KAREN TAKAKA LUCAS, PhD — Camp Savage Secretly Trained Soldiers during World War II

Dr. Lucas is a third generation Japanese American. Camp Savage secretly trained soldiers, mostly Japanese Americans, in military Japanese language. Dr. Lucas will tell her father’s story, training with the first class to study at Camp Savage and serving in the South Pacific and in the Occupation of Japan
